This week’s Relay Interview features Saerom Park from the AI Research Team. Saerom joined Promedius as a university intern and is now in her third year with the company. Although the youngest by age, she’s already making a big impact — she will be presenting solo at the globally renowned WCO 2025 congress. Let’s hear about how this Gen Z researcher has grown with Promedius.

Q. From intern to full-time AI researcher — what has the journey been like?

A. It’s been a journey of constant growth. As an undergraduate, I was drawn to computer vision AI because I found it exciting to see tangible results. What caught my eye about Promedius was its use of medical imaging in AI. I actually saw the internship opening on our CEO Hyunjin’s Facebook page — it felt refreshingly open and casual. The interview was relaxed, and once I started working with the team, I knew this was the right place for me. Although I lacked practical experience at first, the team was incredibly supportive. Even now, I genuinely enjoy working with them. Recently, I received a lot of help from my team lead, Minji. She encouraged me to take 1-on-1 English lessons with a native speaker to prepare for my presentation, which helped tremendously. She also offers insightful perspectives during our paper discussions, which motivates me to study more. I started from zero, but I can feel how much I’ve built up. I used to get stuck on a single error for hours — now I can multitask with a broader view.

Saerom describes PROMEDIUS as a child — still growing, still evolving. And just like the company, she continues to grow in her own remarkable way. We look forward to seeing even more from her in the future.
