This week’s featured guest is Saerom Bang from the Development Team. Saerom began her career in business operations and data analysis, but made a bold career pivot into frontend development at Promedius. In just three years, she has grown into a full-stack developer. We spoke with her to learn more about her journey.

Q: Transitioning into software development without a technical background must have been challenging. How did you overcome those difficulties?

A: The support from my team leader and teammates was a huge help. At first, I struggled with all the unfamiliar technical terms, but now I can communicate smoothly thanks to their guidance. (laughs) I’ve always been curious about other roles, and I had a strong desire to improve things that felt inconvenient. Now I get to do that through my work. It’s really rewarding to see the results of what I’ve built and to solve bugs on my own. Even during coding classes, I enjoyed the open discussions and learning atmosphere regardless of age, and I still feel that way now. We study together, apply what we learn to our product, and engage in a lot of discussions — it feels like steady, hands-on growth.

Recently, I had the chance to visit a hospital to test our product. The field experience was completely different, and I learned so much. Thinking of ideas, implementing them, solving all sorts of problems — that sense of accomplishment keeps building up and helps me enjoy even the difficult moments

Saerom described PROMEDIUS as her “foundation.” It was the company where she took her first steps as a developer, and it has continued to be a place where she experiences growth in many ways. We can’t wait to see her shine even brighter as a developer.
